About Chris

Fresh graduate eager to inspire and enthuse students

Hi! My name's Chris and I'm a recent graduate of the University of York with a 2:1 in History and Philosophy. I believe everyone possesses an innate curiosity and love of learning, both of which are crucial to a successful student, and I aim to bring that out of every student with friendly and interesting lessons which they will enjoy and look forward to. I have long had a passion for learning and for the studious atmosphere, and imparting some of my experience and knowledge on to children and young adults is something which I would take great pride and pleasure in doing.

I have a wide range of academic interests, mainly centring around history and philosophy. I am happy to help any student with any topic across the
curriculum of history, philosophy, religious studies or politics; I myself obtained an A grade in each of these subjects at A-level. I am also studying for a Masters degree in Religion and Politics at the University of Birmingham, starting September 2015.

I have a background in theatre performance, and as a result see myself as very confident yet also approachable and personable, traits I feel make an excellent tutor. With this background, I am also a capable singer, and would be comfortable to help a wide range of ranges and abilities with vocal technique.

My availability only includes single hour lessons but I am happy to give two or three hour lessons as well. I'm quite flexible with my time so if you have any questions or queries, then just drop me a message and I'm sure we can work something out.

Chris is a confident and patient young man who is able to motivate, inspire and communicate effectively with young people and adults.

Written by Joshua A
As a teacher of science in a secondary school, I know the demands of teaching and how important it is to communicate ideas effectively to enable children to make maximum progress. I have worked with Chris at a youth theatre company where he has lead groups of young adults in learning new musical pieces to perform. His performing background has developed his confidence and his communication skills, both of which are vital attributes for a tutor. He is professional and reliable when teaching new songs to people and he is able to adapt his methods to suit the needs of the performers with whom he works. Chris is passionate about history, politics and philosophy and has studied these in depth at university. Chris' enthusiasm for these subjects will help him to bring the content to life and make his sessions more memorable for his tutees, further enhancing their progress. Chris is very motivated to achieve his goals and can help to inspire and motivate those he works with. He always gets the best out of the people around him and is friendly and approachable so that people enjoy working for him and with him.

Other Qualifications

I have spent the last five years working on and off with groups of young people to aid with their performance skills and to produce shows and concerts for them to put on. This has been immensely rewarding and has also greatly aided my ability to effectively and enthusiastically communicate information to young people.

I also possess a Grade 8 Distinction in Musical Theatre Performance from the London College of Music Examinations.
