Professional actor and teacher - experienced and friendly

As a professional actor, I’ve worked with the RSC, in the West End, fringe, TIE, radio and television - and I've been teaching drama and theatre skills, Shakespeare and public speaking for more than ten years in schools, youth theatres and to individuals, as well as tutoring students through GCSE drama.

I currently work with As Creatives delivering tailor made sessions to schools around the country as well as coaching actors and students.

I work with people of all ages and ambitions just as they come to me. Shy, confident, inexperienced or knowing a whole load of stuff, or people who just need a pointer to get them to the next level.

I tend to work as you would in a rehearsal, on the hoof and doing it. It’s easier and you get more done - it’s more energised - and more fun!

One of my strengths is helping actors and students make their way through Shakespeare: understanding the text, using the language and verse to support the speech, clarifying the thoughts that carry through the lines, and ultimately making it real.

But with any scenario, being able see and hear what’s happening and give bite size practical hooks - is something I do quickly and easily - as well as being able to offer the more detailed skills and insights you accumulate over the years as an actor. Often really simple, they’re the sort of things that enrich and lift a performance a step above and beyond.

I also tutor students through the written aspects of GCSE Drama. I help them to clarify a subject which students often approach instinctively and find difficult to analyse and write down. I ensure they are focussing on what is required of them (using the mark scheme from the appropriate board) and that they are comfortable describing their thoughts using the correct terminology.

I’m really aware this aspect of the exam can be trying for some students and I work at engaging their own enthusiams so they actually enjoy writing it down!

Whatever you're after, the best thing is simply to get in touch and we can have a chat about what you want. I'm always happy to give advice.

Lovely energy and enthusiasm

Caroline is a superb teacher - friendly and knowledgable. She quickly put my shy daughter at ease and she came out beaming. She said she felt she had been let in on all sorts of secrets about acting (Caroline was a professional actress - and has an impressive list of credits but is really down to earth, adding in funny snippets of what happens in real rehearsals or performances) - and she said all Caroline’s ideas were really useful and made a lot of sense to her.

Caroline had asked my daughter to practise with me now and again (for her GCSE performance) and I must say when she did her scene with me after her lesson it really shone. My daughter’s a really good actress (well I think so!) but there was detail in there that really made me laugh and she just seemed so much more confident in everything she was doing - she took her time and you could almost see her thoughts. Just great.
I can’t recommend Caroline highly enough. Her energy and enthusiasm is lovely to be with and she’s kind and really seems to care - about drama and theatre and your child. Brilliant. Very h
