About Camilla
I enjoy teaching children of any age and come from a strong academic background and hold a variety of teaching experience.
I quickly adapt my tutoring to the child's individual needs and welcome input from family and teachers.
My aim is ultimately to get students enthusiastic and independent in their education!
Past Teaching Experience:
1. this site Tutor: previously employed by two families for GCSE Sciences and one family for basic English Language
2. UCL Target Medicine mentor: Interview skills and UCAS applications
3. ICS Restless Development: I taught sexual health and peer relationships for 3 months in Harare, Zimbabwe
4. Medical Ethics and Interview Skills at City & Islington College to sixth form students interested in applying to Medical School. The feedback I received from the teachers and organisers of this scheme was overwhelmingly positive and this opportunity expanded my teaching repertoire.
5. Sexual Health and PSHE for three months, which accumulated into me planning and carrying out four sessions at two different London secondary schools. I was assessed throughout the program and gained a grade A in all aspects of my teaching. I thoroughly enjoyed the teaching experience and benefited from it greatly, improving my public speaking, organisational and team-working skills.
6. Head of the Science Committee in February 2013-June 2013; organising a tutoring scheme for younger students to assist them with some harder aspects of their Science Lessons. Having always had a keen interest in teaching I volunteered in my school’s Science Club. I planned and taught fun lessons that helped the students understand basic concepts such as surface tension and sound waves in a relaxed and informal setting.
7. I taught for two weeks at local schools in a small town in Kenya with a team of 10 students. During this period I planned and carried out at least three lessons a day on various subjects and dealt with both cultural and language barriers. At one school I had to quickly grasp Swahili sign language in order to communicate with hearing impaired students.
I have a 7 year background of teaching alongside my medical degree and am well-versed in engaging students and promoting a positive attitude to learning.
My approach is a team effort, including family and school input, whilst always keeping the student and their aspirations for the future at the very centre.

Camilla volunteered to run weekly enrichment sessions with City and Islington Sixth Form students keen to apply for medically related degrees. She organised and ran eight outstanding sessions on ethical and moral issues in medicine. Out of over 50 UCL medical students over a period of seven years, Camilla is the most talented and engaging volunteer teacher that I have had the pleasure of working with. Her sessions were always well present, extremely relevant and made accessible to all ability groups. She was always able to keep a group of thirty or more students engaged and on task.
