About Betty

Improve a few levels in Maths this summer!

I am a Mathematics student at the University of Leeds, I have just finished my second year and wish to focus on working closely with students in developing their love for Maths throughout this school year!
I believe that this subject has the ability to be loved by everyone, and just some support in boosting one's confidence around numbers is a wonderful way to develop the tools necessary to approach mathematics questions with a sense of certainty and calm.
I have much experience working with children of all ages in maths as well as english language and grammar, and truly see it as one of the most rewarding activities to take part in - For a year before my A-level exams, I worked with 3 sisters ranging from 6 - 12, with the oldest we explored a series of exercises where we took questions somewhat below her level and built up her speed and accuracy, as well as confidence, which catalysed her understanding in what challenged her initially; I ultimately left her once she passed her end of year test with flying colours, and having sat the top-set test in her lunchtime, she was able to return the new year moving up several class-sets to be looking at the highest level paper for official exams.
Through study centres alongside private tutoring, it has been clear to me, that no child or person is 'bad' at maths, and in lots of ways, spending a bit of time going thoroughly over simple things (that one might feel embarrassed about asking in public), is the best way to let you understand that the subject is only as difficult as you imagine it to be!
I would love to meet with you, and discuss the sorts of ways in which I can help you (or your child/ren) intensively improve in the subject this summer - and return to the new year with a clear head that invites tackling the hardest of problems!

I am also able to teach in basic English Language skills, as well as Japanese and more, more information is available on my profile, and please feel free to contact me for a CV. I am also fully CRB-checked.

Hope to hear from you soon!
