About me:
I have been teaching for 14 years at both Primary and Further Education (FE) level. I have a PGCE from the Institute of Education (University of London). As a teenager, I went to The Latymer School (Edmonton) and I have studied in some of the top London Universities.
I can teach 1:1 on weekday evenings or you can attend my After School club in High Barnet (please email me for a flyer with further details).
Subjects offered:
Primary: English, Pre-School Reading and Writing, and Numeracy, 11+ Preparation (Non verbal and verbal reasoning)
Secondary: English
Further Education /Adults: ICT, CV creating, Confidence classes, Public speaking, Job hunting assistance, Employability skills.
In terms of 1:1 tuition, I like to focus on SMART targets which ensures the targets I set are specific, measurable, achievable and realistic. I build a good rapport with students to make them motivated to learn. I follow a systematic approach which takes the following form:
STAGE 1: Your child will sit an initial assessment to ascertain the level they are working at.
STAGE 2: Relevant to their level, they will be given a recommended text book coupled with my own worksheets to work from each lesson.
STAGE 3: MONTHLY ASSESSMENT: Your child will sit a test at the end of each month to check their understanding of the topics studied so far.
STAGE 4: Review with parent (similar to parents evening at school). SMART targets will be set and a discussion will take place about the level your child is working at.
Please note you will get regular feedback about your child's performance both verbally as well as written in the form of a report card.
HOMEWORK: Regular homework will be given to your child.
