  • 1) When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

    After completing my postgraduate degree, I have develop interest in teaching GCSE, Key stage 3 and A level subjects. After completing PGCE and QTS, and I have been teaching for the last 23 years. I have been enjoying since the first day I have started teaching.
  • 2) Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

    I teach Science, Geography, Maths and English. I have developed wider subject knowledge from completing regular CPD and I have been working with AQA, OCR, WJEC/EDUQAS and Pearson exam boards to gain insight.
  • 3) Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

    During the time of education as well as current education practice, I have been inspired by many teachers in school who has given a lot of time and effect to support me with education. I value education a lot and I believe that everyone in society should deserve the best education regardless of their personal situation and ability.
  • 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

    To become a good quality tutor you need to:

    Spend a lot of time planning the lesson.
    Known your subject and encourage student to make progress.
    Know your exam board and the specification.
    Be able to differentiation a topics to get best out of the student
    Always stretch and challenge the student to encourage them to get the best grade for all subject.
  • 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

    When teaching a certain subject, you need to relate the content to the specification and past exam papers for all students to make progress. Model the answer to questions and encourage/ motivate student to develop exam skills.
  • 6) What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

    The current challenge is to adapt to the style of specification level questions being asked by the exam board after COVID. Student who has experience lockdown / distance learning are facing challenges of linking pervious learning knowledge with the current topics.
  • 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

    I have passion of learning new teaching pedagogy strategies and always read education related research publication to enhance my practice.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions :-P) ?

    My experience of teaching (23 years), excellent subject knowledge, good communication skills to form excellent bond with students, utilise resources to differentiation teaching style and gain update knowledge to regular CPD and attended exam board training to keep upto date with the knowledge.
