About Amelia
I am very friendly and approachable and put all my efforts and skill set into ensuring that the student fully understands the subject. I would tailor each session to areas that the student is finding difficult whilst also going through the general subject. I use a range of teaching techniques and styles from active to passive and make sure fun is had by all. I will attempt to get to know the student as much as possible so that each lesson can match what benefits them most. In addition, I would like to dedicate time with the student to help them improve their exam and revision techniques by helping them with past papers and helping them find a study pattern that works for them. This can include helping them with revision/work timetables and useful tip/activities to improve the efficiency of their study.
Furthermore, I would also like to dedicate time to any applications they may have, particularly university applications, where I can utilise my 3-year experience working as a student ambassador, in which I worked very closely with the admissions team for the University of Manchester. This role means I have 3 years of experience of ensuring students get into the university of their dreams by teaching them laboratory techniques and giving them useful insights into university applications.
I thoroughly enjoy watching any student achieve the very best they can.

I have had the pleasure of working with Amelia for over 5 years. I can hand on heart say that she is the most compassionate and enthusiastic teacher and scientist I have met. I have seen her teach A-level students complex degree level neuroscience on a weekly basis, and every week the students understand and were enthralled.
At the forefront of Amelia’s work is her care for individuals and the success of each of her students. Her passion for biology, conservation and research is inspiring and she transfers this to her tutor work in buckets. She would be an excellent tutor to any student no matter the level.Amelia has demonstrated an outstanding ability to teach biology to students aged 17-18 at the University of Manchester. The aim of Amelia’s teaching during the laboratory demonstrations was to deepen student knowledge on neuroscience and genetic mutations. During the demonstrations Amelia involved students in the practical demonstrations, providing an engaging and student-led experience for those who attended. Amelia is able to adapt explanations and break down complicated concepts, in order to differentiate to meet the learning needs of all students. Coming from a biology background Amelia demonstrates impeccable subject knowledge, and also understanding on what areas of biology students may find difficult, a quality I believe to be important in a tutor. Amelia has the dedication, the passion for her subject and the patience to ensure students make progress and leave sessions with a greater understanding of biology.
