About Amarachi

I have a strong desire to broaden my understanding of media and communications, particularly in the area of…, and hope to pursue a career within this field in the near future.

Communication surrounds and influences various aspects of daily human activity. Indeed, good communication is essential to forming solid human relationships by way of day to day interactions.

It is the very essence of building, and advertently maintaining business relations, and networks. Furthermore, it transcends its reach beyond commercial relations and enables both public and private relationships,

It equally facilitates diplomatic relations at subnationtional,
national, regional and multilateral levels. I believe a degree in media and communication will give me a wide range of employment opportunities and access to numerous career pathways due to its overarching nature particularly in fields such as in marketing, public relations, advertising and journalism. It will not only aid me in honing my public speaking abilities, but improve the way in which I absorb, assess and in turn, convey information. As of now, I am still uncertain about what path I would like to follow in the industry which is why I have chosen a course which piques my interest and affords a diverse range of career opportunities.

As a child, I avidly watched news channels with my father, and held a strong admiration for the way in which news anchors spoke with such confidence and charisma. I respected their on-screen presence. It made me curious about the world of public speaking and communicationsand in these young years, I knew that I too, wanted to be a participant in the dissemination of world news and current events.

I am applying for this course, because I have the willingness to the world and people within it. I desire to understand the ways in which the media affects our daily lives by controlling the public perception and response, to global events.

To prolong this point, another facet of the Media which is equally of interest to me, is that which concerns celebrity news and entertainment due to the fact that everyday person is the end receiver of such information whether directly or inadvertently due to several streaming outlets such as over the counter magazines, news apps, television and radio. Today’s society is somewhat reliant on such entertainment to mitigate the more serious news transmissions concerning the economy and unsettling global events surrounded by tragic news of war and disasters.

Society is highly dependent on the media because of the wealth of information that is yet to be discovered on any given subject. This is underlined by the fact that we live in an age where people, particularly millenials are very socially adept.

In the words of …… FIND HIM.,. “social media is king” and ‘everybody rides the wav”.
Social media gurus such as Kim Kardashian, The Jenner Family, The Osbournes (MORE EXAMPLES HERE) have a significant impact on everything from what we wear, what fitness regimes we adapt, what beauty products to indulge in, music tastes and so forth.
This leads on neatly into the impact of the Media on the economy; specifically the notion of supply and demand. Consumer behavior is heavily dictated by social media– I believe this is mostly the cause of the big players, instagram, Facebook, even as of now companies are changing their advertising strategies to be more consonant with the jargon / vernacular kids of this age. Take for example, Topshop… mc donalds etc. even the … brand Barclays etc.

Examples!! So do research..find out corny brands that have done this or tried to use “cool slogans “ to attract a younger generation.

My interest in people and media, led me to studypsychology, to better understand human psychological behavior. It provides several cognitive theories which lend itself well to the world of media and communiactions.

It has aided my understanding of the ways in which individuals are influenced by the media in that it has taught me to think critically about the world around me thus I believe that I am a multi skilled student, being skilled in different areas of education will better benefit , and open up several opportunities in not only the media aspect of life, but also the communicational aspect.

I previously studied GCSE's at Stonyhurst College, and AS level photography, business studies and theology.
I decided to discontinue my AS studies and commence a foundation course in humanities as I did not feel that the AS courses were a right for me. Having established what direction I wanted to take in my academic career, in order to achieve my goals in life, I decided that this course would be more suited to my proposed undergraduate degree on media and communications.

Nonetheless, this is not to say that the knowledge I gained was wasted. I thoroughly enjoyed studying business studies, it has taught me a lot about……

Which I am sure will help me progress in the business aspect of this multifaceted course.

I am very eager to proceed to this new stage of my academic career and I am certain that if granted the opportunity, I will thrive.
