About Alistair
I began specialising in language teaching after moving to Valencia in 2015 and completing my CELTA shortly after arriving. Since then I’ve been working as a language teacher at academies, privately and for businesses, and wish to continue doing so here back in London.
Before moving to Spain I worked in the education sector in the U.K for five years. My roles here were as learning support in both Mainstream and Special educational needs schools.
This enabled me to develop my approach to teaching, organisation and my communicative skills in sometimes very challenging environments. I believe this lateral thinking and alertness enables me to easily adapt to new teaching environments.
As a speaker and student of two other languages, Spanish and Dutch, I have enormous insight into the steps required to becoming a confident user of another language. Over the years I’ve thus acquired the skills, confidence and empathy that are essential to encourage and inspire others to learn.
It’s extremely important to me that my students enjoy learning a second language. Accordingly I try to take a playful approach to lessons and be as creative as possible within a curriculum or programme. As an artist myself, I often incorporate art, music and poetry into my classes as I find this method is matched with increased enthusiasm from students and therefore better results.

Alistair worked for me as a teacher for a year in which I found him to be very professional and dedicated to his subject. He taught business English for one of my biggest clients -Customerville- based in the centre of Valencia, as well as exam preparation and one to one classes with students of varied age and levels. I found him to be a very hard working individual and I had a very good rapport with the students.
