Enthusiastic English Teacher available for private tutoring
Having graduated with a First Class Honours degree in English, I was then accepted onto the highly competitive Teach First programme, and I have spent the last two years teaching English in South Yorkshire.
I am a knowledgeable and personable English teacher with experience of one-to-one tutoring as well as class teaching. I am passionate about encouraging curiosity within my students, and igniting a passion for literature. I am a reflective individual that aims to offer a bespoke service to each student I encounter - no two learners are the same and I have become skilful at adapting to suit the needs of each pupil.
Although I did not pursue Drama at degree-level, I have always been passionate about acting and directing, and I was an innovative member of my A-Level Drama class, with experience of devising, editing, directing and acting. I was also a founding member of the Drama Society at my University, and performed in the first play at the University in a decade. I believe that this, paired with my experience of teaching plays at GCSE and A-Level as part English Literature, would make me a fantastic choice for a Drama tutor.
In addition, as part of my degree, I studied modules in TEFL and Teaching Academic English. During this time, I tutored an Iraqi post-graduate student whose written English required improvement. I have also taught many students for whom English was a second language. This experience and level of study has prepared me to tutor any students preparing for the IELTS tests, or simply looking to improve their spoken or written English.
I believe that cultivating relationships with students and parents is an essential part of learning, so please provide as much information about your needs as possible to ensure that I am able to prepare appropriately.
