About Alexander
8 years of tutoring experience; unparalleled success rate; "The number one 11+, 13+ specialist in London" The Telegraph
With 8 years of tutoring experience under my belt, I am one of the most qualified and accomplished tutors available. The sheer number of my students who achieve their desired results and attain places at every single one of their chosen schools speaks for itself. This is why I have been singled out and profiled by The Telegraph and The Times as the top in my field.
Every student has their specific areas of strengths and weaknesses. My first job is to identify which areas need the most work and devise a plan to tackle these head-on. So often, students have a mental block in a certain area because of a bad teacher at school. My method aims at all costs to instil my students with confidence in their brilliance and ability and therefore remove this block. These exams have to be approached with steady and regular practice coupled with positive reinforcement and continuous encouragement. The journey can feel stressful and arduous at times, but with my unfailing support and creative teaching methods I keep the process as enjoyable and worry-free as possible.
It’s essential to keep in mind that each pupil is individual and that therefore it is the teacher’s job to learn from the pupil. I enjoy adapting to different situations and view obstacles as stepping-stones for achievements. Often it is just gentle guidance in the right direction in order to raise the pupil’s confidence that is needed. They must feel comfortable to make mistakes so that they can learn from these and not feel tense and stressed.
I have a very creative mind, always armed with a unique perspective when approaching any issue, due to my broad range of subjects and skills. As a Classics and Modern Languages scholar at Winchester College and then an Academic Music student at Cambridge I have built skills in logical thinking and pattern-spotting, combining the need to focus on specific details as well as seeing the overall scheme. I am a professional Opera Singer also, therefore incorporating excellent communication and performance expertise and years of 1-on-1 teacher-pupil experience to my repertoire of skills.

Testimonials:
Helen (13+ Maths)
"No teacher had ever encouraged me to approach maths problems in such an intriguing and creative manner until Alexander came to help. I had struggled for years but within a matter of weeks I grew in confidence and moved up 2 sets! Our personalities clicked immediately, and I really enjoyed our lessons."
Oliver (11+ English)
"Alexander got me to learn spellings while brushing my teeth and standing on one leg and we studied the required literature in a whole host of unusual and fun ways. I always thought that being dyslexic meant that I could never be good at English. Alexander proved that’s not the case at all!"
Lisa (11+)
"Having Alexander guide and support us through the bizarre world of the 11+ was a lifesaver. He made sure at every stage that Zack was totally on top of all the required VR, NVR, English and Maths for each individual school. We couldn't have done it without him."

Perfect! Music scholarship audition interview
My son has received excellent guidance from Alex before his music scholarships for various leading boarding schools in UK. Alex led my son to explore knowledge of music in depths. He spent two sessions with Alex and learned much new and interesting knowledge.l requested a third lesson afterwards but Alex said my son was well equipped and no extra lessons was needed. Alex responded promptly to our email communication after the tutorial. He is definitely a responsible and kind hearted teacher and mentor. My son has successfully received a Year 9 music scholarship from one of the top leading boarding school.

Alexander was super creative and engaging in our lessons. No 2 lessons were ever the same and I was constantly kept on my toes and at the top of my game. He primarily helped me with my Maths and Latin Winchester College Entrance exams but he became more of a mentor figure in general, helping me with my study skills and revision. Thanks, Alexander!
Alexander really is the top tutor in London. My daughter was really struggling with her English and VR and was nowhere near where she needed to be for her SPGS entrance. With Alexander's help she sailed through the exams with flying colours.
Alexander really helped build my confidence with singing and created a supportive and fun environment. He used a range of innovative and creative methods to help me overcome problems.
