About Alexander
Hi there! I am conducting a PhD in Immunology and Personalised Medicine at UCL having previously attained a first class BSc in Biological Sciences at the University of Leeds.
I have been a private tutor for over 6 years now. In this time, have accumulated over 1000 hours of tuition time and am extremely proud to say I have developed a great track record of helping students achieve the highest grades and their goals.
I have tutored several students, ranging from the ages of 6, all the way up to medical students. My expertise lies within the field of science (and football!), in which I have taught at all levels (KS2-degree level), but I also have extensive experience tutoring KS2 and KS3 English and Mathematics.
Throughout my undergraduate degree, I frequently led revision classes for my course, benefiting both myself and my tutees, and received excellent feedback throughout.
During the third year of my undergraduate degree, I conducted an industrial placement at GlaxoSmithKline. Here, I spent a large period of time teaching and supervising younger BSc students and apprentices regarding the fundamental skills required in a laboratory and the world of Biological Science and Pharmacology in general.
My experience thus far has enabled me to develop very strong communication and interpersonal skills and therefore express myself in a clear and concise manner to students of all ages.

I aim to create an active, fun and effective environment where the learner enjoys studying and trying new things without the fear of failure or feeling silly.
I listen intently to understand what the learner is having problems with and construct a detailed plan of action and set clear goals to achieve, to overcome such difficulty.
I truly understand that different methods work for different students and I am relentless in determining the most suitable approach to adapt.
I am a huge advocate of good exam technique and have developed many methods to instill this in my students. In addition, I thoroughly understand that exams can be stressful and daunting, but I have developed many ideas to counteract pressure and develop strong time-management skills.
Ultimately, I aim to build the student's confidence in their work and turn to study into a pleasant and enjoyable experience.
Should you have any additional questions or queries then please do not hesitate to contact me, I would be delighted to help.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
During my time working as a colleague of Alexander, I was impressed by his enthusiasm for his subject area and his willingness to share this passion with others around him. He is always willing to put time aside to help others and has built a strong array of essential communication skills, making him, not only easy to talk to and get along with, but an excellent teacher. He has a knack of explaining complicated concepts in a clear and concise manner, helping one understand things. He also is very patient and understanding and it feels as though it is always okay to ask him questions. He is also extremely organised and sets achievable short-term and long-term targets, so you can see how you are progressing and have a well laid out plan.
We hired Alex to help our son with his GCSE Biology revision last summer. Alex was easily approachable, responsive with our queries and provided an engaging mode of learning which was exactly what our son was missing in school.
