About Alex
Encouraging and supportive tutor, adept at building self-esteem and enabling students to meet their targets. Experience working with primary, secondary, and degree level students.
One-to-one teaching is the most effective way of improving a student’s performance and kindling a real interest in the subject. I enjoy working with and investing in students as individuals.There is nothing more rewarding than seeing their progress and achievements.
I have worked in primary, secondary, and heritage education for 8 years and tutored students of all ages. I have developed expertise across both the humanities and sciences, ensuring student success in subjects such as English, Maths, Sciences, Drama, and History.
My tutoring is based upon academic expertise: I am currently working towards a PhD in Biological Sciences, following my BA (Hons) from the University of Oxford in English Language and Literature, MA from King's College, London in Shakespeare Studies, and MSc from the University of Reading in Plant Diversity. This grounding in academic rigour, and knowledge of the challenges for learners, informs my sympathetic and supportive teaching style.
I look forward to the opportunity to help students reach their potential and exceed their expectations.
