About Alex
I am a professional freelance teacher, musician and musical director based in North London. A recent graduate from the University of Cambridge, I now perform regularly on the West End, on tour with rock bands, in classical orchestras, and many other musical ventures. I teach cello and piano to advanced level but I love teaching people of all abilities and experience and welcome keen absolute beginners. I also teach music theory up to Grade 8, and am happy to offer GCSE/A level music tuition. I am a trained classical singer and often teach musical theatre singing, working with singers as a musical director, training them for auditions and working on their technique.
I am a friendly and encouraging teacher, with a keen focus on getting enjoyment out of music making. You are much more likely to improve at a faster rate if you enjoy playing!
I teach children and adults of all ages, and am happy to travel within London to teach. I am fully DBS (CRB) checked.
I achieved my dipABRSM diploma on cello in 2011 after gaining Grade 8 distinction in 2009. I achieved Grade 8 piano in 2010 and Grade 8 singing in 2013.
