Reference for Alex Harwood, Artist
I am delighted to provide a reference for Alex. I have worked with Alex since January 2013, initially as a Programme Administrator for academic clinical short courses at King’s College London and more recently on art projects I have commissioned. He is extremely well organised, with a very good attention to detail. He is quietly confident and has a gentle manner. He is polite and courteous with students. I have observed him engaging people in art work, particularly those who experience acute mental health problems. He does this with great skill and compassion. He is a good motivator and breaks goals down into simple achievable tasks.
The quality of his art work is excellent. I have been very pleased with the art work he has produced for his commissions and will continue to commission him for future projects.
Alex would be a tremendous asset to your company and has my highest recommendation.
I have worked directly with Alex on two commissions. The first was the design of a physical health and wellbeing booklet for service users and carers with mental health problems. Alex co designed the

I run a youth project called ARTiculate; which delivers creative arts projects for 16-25 year olds on an outreach basis. These projects are designed to support positive mental health and emotional well-being of the young people. ARTiculate is run by Community Focus (an inclusive arts centre) in Barnet, London. Alex is one of our free-lance community artists.
I commissioned Alex to work on some of the creative arts projects within ARTiculate. I found him to be a hard-working and knowledgeable individual. Alex is flexible to his working environment, crucial when you work on an outreach basis, and developed positive working relationships with the young people.
Alex works well with his colleagues (both staff and volunteers) and followed the direction that I gave him as well. I have found Alex to be reliable and punctual. I have no concerns in recommending him to working with others.

I enjoyed working with Alex and would recommend him to working in other similar roles in creative arts projects.
Alex Harwood: Former taught student at Goldsmiths
Alex followed the MA in Participatory and Community Arts P/T for one year with us undertaking the module in Developing Projects. This module focuses on developing creative participatory arts projects from the original idea, starting with principles and values and moving through practical concerns to the realisation of a project bid including full aims and objectives, timelines, budgets and evaluation processes. We found him to be a facilitative and engaged practitioner, with strong values and a concern to make a difference through involving people through the arts. He was a thoughtful group member, and became increasingly confident in contributing his own views to the debate. He is supportive to others, enthusiastic about learning and I am sure would be a great tutor.
He has now taken on this learning and is a practicing arts facilitator teaching art to a variety of groups across the community.
