Experienced Maths, Physics and University Admissions Tutor
Pleased to meet you! I'm Alex, a Student from the University of Oxford.
I achieved straight A*s at A2-Level, straight As at AS (the highest grade) and 9 A*s at GCSE including Maths, Science, Electronics and Latin. My exam results at Oxford predict graduation with a 1st Class Degree.
I don't believe this came from simple natural ability; I put a lot of hard work and dedication forward to build this near-perfect academic record! This is perhaps why tutoring has always come naturally to me: I have been there, staring at a topic or problem as if I would never understand it, as if it were impossible... but when I see my students in the same position, I now know how to stoop down to their level, and make things much clearer for them.
I have a fair bit of tutoring experience under my belt, and have been received well by every single student I've taught. I am very patient and calm, since I don’t quite have the ordinary life of a student my age: my father is, sadly, very ill and I have been looking for a way to support my family.
Often hours and hours can be wasted in classrooms and even with tutors - I think a student has to be interested and presented with the correct level of challenge in order to learn their subjects most effectively. I will always adapt my teaching style to meet the specific learning styles and preferences of each and every one of my pupils.
Since I spend a lot of time studying in Oxford, I am very interested in online tutoring: there’s so much potential in teaching people in all places and of all cultures, simply because we can now do this easily over the internet!
The students I have taught online so far have responded very positively to tutoring in this way, and we have made lots of progress in learning both Maths and Physics. They’ve been from a range of places: from Hong Kong to the United States.
