About Alasdair

English and Drama Teacher. Drama School Admissions.

I am a professional actor living in West London. I have a number of West End and regional credits on stage and have appeared on film and television. In between acting jobs I enjoy teaching maths and English at Explore Learning and comedy and drama at the Pauline Quirke Academy.

I was a student at Charterhouse for five years before becoming an actor. There I developed a love for literature and language which I enjoy passing onto younger generations. Close textual analysis and new writing are of special interest to me and garnered me the highest grades throughout my school career.

I also am able to offer personal tuition in English and Drama at a number of levels. I attended the internationally-renowned Bristol Old Vic Theatre School which is one of only three drama schools in the country (along with RADA and LAMDA) to be a member of the Conservatoire of Dance and Drama. I have worked extensively with classical texts but also with new work and musicals. I am happy to help people prepare for drama school auditions and have sat on the audition panel of my alma mater several times. I have a extensive knowledge of world drama (with a particular passion for modern Irish work) and practitioners as well as the history of theatre and am therefore ideally suited to tutoring drama and theatre studies as an academic subject.

Excellent tutor

Written by Amanda D
Alasdair tutored my son for the 10+ English exam and he did a brilliant job. My son hates English yet he really enjoyed his sessions with Alasdair! He came on leaps and bounds within just a few sessions and has been inspired to read more. I am very grateful.
