"The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" is a story about a scientist named Dr. Jekyll who wants to explore his dark side. He creates a potion that turns him into Mr. Hyde, a bad and cruel person. Dr. Jekyll tries to control Mr. Hyde, but eventually Mr. Hyde becomes too powerful and takes over. This leads to both Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde dying. The story shows that everyone has good and bad sides, and we should be careful when exploring our bad side.

An Overview of Dr. Jekyll's Character in the Story

At the start of the story, Dr. Jekyll is a respected and smart scientist. He's also rich and lives in a big house with his butler, Poole. Dr. Jekyll has his own lab at the back of his house where he's doing a big experiment. This experiment starts to change him and makes him act weird, which causes him to become isolated from his friends and society.

As the story goes on, Dr Jekyll becomes even more unpredictable and decides to leave everything he owns to Mr Hyde, who is a bad person. This worries his friend Utterson, who wants to learn more about Mr Hyde.

An Overview of the Mr. Hyde's Character in the Story

Mr Hyde is portrayed as a devilish and evil criminal mastermind in the story. Stevenson doesn't reveal much about his physical appearance, but he is said to be smaller than Jekyll. People who see him are deeply affected by his presence and looks, which adds to his mysteriousness.

Hyde is a violent person who not only commits horrible crimes, but also show no remorse. He is selfish and wants complete control over Jekyll.
