Church Modes

June 23, 2016 User 5

both for classical and jazz musicians, knowing the church modes is a very powerful tool for enlarging the breadth of melodic expressive vocabulary

Note that not only within melodic improvisation but also in terms of chord building, this is a very usefull resource

Note also that the modes have special notes to them (Final, Tenor, Mediant, Participant). Ackowlege their behaviour and "colour" within the scale and use them wisely :)
