Fairytale Modern Rewrite
February 19, 2016
Write a story… (30 minutes)*
Choose a fairy tale (___________________________).
Instead of re-writing the traditional fairy tale, update it as if it were happening today.
For example, instead of walking through the woods to Grandma’s house, Little Red Riding rides on a scooter across the city. Or, instead of a ball, Cinderella meets the prince at a football match. How does the new information or different setting change the story?
Your story needs to have a beginning, middle and end. It should also have lots of describing words – making your sentences as interesting as your story! Write your story on a separate piece of paper.
*Suggested use with picture books of fairytale rewrites in lesson.
