The UK government is working at home and abroad to adapt to the effects of climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by investing in low-carbon energy sources, improving fuel standards in cars and increasing energy efficiency wherever possible. In 2012, the nations of the United Kingdom is endowed with vast and varied renewable energy resources. However, UK leads the world in offshore wind, with more than 700 turbines already installed, and is accelerating the deployment of onshore wind with the biggest projects in Europe already operating and under construction in Scotland and Wales. Taken together onshore and offshore wind provide enough power for more than two and a half million homes.
