Spinning Disk and Chladni Plates Lab Experiments

October 08, 2015

This two experiments are an introduction to some basic concepts of spinning disk and Chladni Plates. However, the purpose of spinning disk  investigation is to measure the precession rate of a gyroscope and compare it to the theoretical value. Consequently, Chladni Plates is the nodal pattern formed on a plate when an external driving source is given to make the plate vibrate.Chladni discovered Chladni's law, a simple algebraic relation for approximating the modal frequencies of the free oscillations of plates and other bodies.Chladni estimated sound velocities in different gases by placing those gases in an organ pipe and measuring the characteristics of the sounds that emerged when the pipe was played.
