About PAT

Physics Aptitude Test (PAT) is mandatory for anyone who aims to study physics and philosophy at University of Oxford. PAT is a two-hour test that assesses the student's ability in physics as well as mathematics. University of Oxford works in partnership with the Cambridge Assessment Admission Testing to administer PAT exam.

You will find a mixture of both maths and physics questions in a PAT exam. To complete these questions, you will be given a time of 2 hours. Remember that tables, data books and formula sheets are prohibited, however, you can always use the specific calculators. It means that all kind of calculators are not permitted, therefore you should check if the calculator you are planning to use is allowed or not.

How to Prepare for the Test?

To prepare for the test, you need to familiarize yourself with the PAT syllabus. The syllabus covers GCSE and AS level maths and physics. You can also take help from a wide range of past papers to comprehend the test format and content covered. In this resource, you will find many PAT past papers which will help you to prepare for this test.  These documents are freely available from the University of Oxford website.
