July 31, 2015 Madeleine K

A reading passage used by North London Independent Girls' Schools' Consortium in 2014

Attached is an exerpt used on the NLIGSC 11+ entrance exam. It's a good example of the reading level for this exam and can be used to assess students' abilities, or create comprehension practice questions. The text is by Susan Carrdus (2013), former head of Carrdus School.

The North London Independent Girls' Schools' Consortium includes:

Francis Holland (Regent’s Park), Francis Holland (Sloane Square), Notting Hill and Ealing High School, Queen's College, St. Albans High School, St. Helen’s School, South Hampstead High School, Channing School, City of London School for Girls, More House, Northwood College for Girls, Queen’s Gate School, St James Senior Girls’ School, The Godolphin & Latymer School

Haberdashers Aske’s Girls School, Elstree and St. Paul's Girls' School are also part of the consortium, but they do not use the common entrance papers.
