About AQA Physics

AQA A level Physics is a challenging and comprehensive program that caters to students who have a passion for the subject and want to explore it in greater depth. The course is administered by the Assessment and Qualifications Alliance (AQA), a reputable UK-based exam board.

The AQA physics curriculum is crafted to meet the highest standards, ensuring that teachers, students, and parents can trust that an AQA award accurately reflects a student's accomplishments. The assessment methodologies have been developed to strike a balance between rigor, dependability, and the expectations placed on candidates.

AQA Physics Unit 2

This AS unit focuses on the principles and applications of mechanics, materials and waves. In the first section, students are introduced to vectors. After that, it develops their knowledge and comprehension of forces and energy from GCSE additional science. In the second section of this unit, students study the materials in terms of their bulk properties and tensile strength. The last section advances GCSE studies on waves by offering deep knowledge of the features, properties, and applications of waves that include refraction, diffraction, superposition and interference.

This resource contains AQA A level physics "Mechanics, materials and waves" past papers and mark schemes from the old specification. It is important to note that this specification has been discontinued since 2016 and replaced with a new one.

If you are looking for past papers and mark schemes for the updated qualification, you can find them on our other blog as per the new specifications.

AQA Physics A-level Specimen Papers and Mark Schemes

The past papers and mark schemes for the ‘old specification’ in the next section can be useful for practice questions, but it is essential to ensure that the questions align with the current specification content. Therefore, it is recommended to check whether the questions are still relevant to the current specification or not before using them for practice.
