About Edexcel A level Economics

Edexcel A level economics A is a course offered by the Edexcel exam board in the United Kingdom. It is an advanced level course that provides students with a strong foundation in micro and macroeconomics, and prepares them for further studies in economics, business, finance, and related fields.

What is covered?

The Edexcel A level economics A course covers a range of topics, including:

  1. Microeconomics: This includes the study of markets, supply and demand, market failure, government intervention, and the behaviour of firms and consumers.
  2. Macroeconomics: This covers the study of the economy as a whole, including topics such as economic growth, inflation, unemployment, international trade, and monetary and fiscal policy.

  4. Global economics: This includes the study of international trade, finance, and development, including topics such as exchange rates, balance of payments, and globalization.

Assessment for the Edexcel A level economics A course is through three written exams, which are taken at the end of the two-year course. Each exam is two hours long and covers a mix of multiple-choice, short-answer and extended-answer questions.
