Every role at Tutorfair is about making a difference; gathering pioneering data, building advanced technology and working to reduce educational inequality.
Our team is made up of creative, optimistic, solution-orientated adventurers. We're always learning from each other thanks to our diverse backgrounds. We love to 'do' and we're always on the lookout for other characters who bring joy to their work to join us on this journey! If you think you’d be a good fit, we’d love to hear from you, send an email to email@example.com.
Do you have the passion and commitment to make a positive impact on students’ lives? If so, we want you to work with us!
We are looking for private tutors to teach Maths, English, Science, French, Piano and many other subjects, at all academic levels.
Simply create a profile on Tutorfair.com and write a little about yourself. Clients in your local area will find you through our website, send you messages and arrange and book lessons at times that you choose.
Every lesson supports our mission to make tutoring fair.
An optional donation is included with every lesson a client buys, enabling our charitable foundation to organise free tuition in our partner schools. We also work with Teach First to provide training to those tutors who wish to volunteer.
This role is all about making a difference. Don’t feel that you have to spend your days doing something boring, unfulfilling, or that you’re not really excited about. Instead, join us to build a charity to combat educational inequality and open up opportunities for everyone.
Tutorfair Foundation is an education charity established to reduce educational inequality by providing tutoring to those who would not ordinarily benefit. It works in partnership with Tutorfair.com, one of the UK’s leading market places for tutoring, which collects a donation with every lesson to fund the Foundation, and gives access to its base of tutors.

Tutorfair - is at the stage where we have a fully functional product and thousands of tutors and clients. We have a clear roadmap of how to improve and ensure that the company continues to grow. We’re currently the largest of our kind in London, and are looking to expand across the country. With our investors from Secret Escapes, Toptable, HouseTrip and Achica we are focused and committed to becoming the way that everyone books their tutors.
You will oversee the effective delivery and expansion of Tutorfair Foundation programmes, both in-school and online. As the charity’s director, you will also be expected to set the vision and formulate the strategy for future programme delivery.
Achieving this will involve:
You can’t stop yourself from organising things around you: you will have made a difference to the organisations you have worked with, and left them better than you found them.
You have effortlessly excellent communication skills: you are able to chat to clients and tutors from all walks of life, from a concerned parent to a PhD astrophysicist. You can write blogs, reports and plans and win people over to your ideas.
You are passionate about reducing educational inequality. You will have read and be able to talk about the issues and possible solutions to educational inequality.
You have done some teaching or tutoring yourself: knowing the industry that we are working in and being able to offer suggestions from the front line is important to establish credibility with schools, tutors and other partners.
You have experience using a range of CRMs: we use Salesforce to manage volunteers through the application and placement process. So it would be great if you had some familiarity with that. No worries if not, we’ll get you up to speed in no time.
You have 2+ years of professional experience or proof that you can make stuff happen: Attitude is more important than experience, but bonus marks if you’ve already mastered managing a team and execution of projects you promised yourself you’d do.
You are a good listener: absorbing and empathising with a stakeholder’s issue is the first step to solving it.
You are an independent thinker: this is a problem solving role, and you’ll relish predicting problems before they arise, and finding solutions for problems you never thought of. You will actively contribute to the company’s evolution and enjoy making things better.
You are data savvy: you have the know how (even if basic) on how to interpret data and plan from it.
We aim for the Foundation to be at the heart of the Tutorfair community of tutors and clients. Your work will inspire and engage thousands of supporters with our mission, and in doing so make education fairer.
We’re a small team taking on a big opportunity. We work together in the same room and have lunch together every day. Each person has their own area of focus (marketing, analytics, product, coding), and you’ll often find yourself jumping in to help someone or asking someone to help you. This is a chance to make great friends and get fully involved in making a business and charity flourish.
If this sounds like the sort of challenge you would like next, email a cover letter (addressed to our CEO) on why we are a great fit for each other and your CV to firstname.lastname@example.org
Apply before: 24 August 2018
This role is perfect for someone looking to get stuck into programming and gain lots of strategic and business exposure. This is your chance to continue learning and apply your technical knowledge from day one.
It is probably best to describe a typical sprint. You will be responsible for the following things within the business:
Mostly PHP 7 with some other technologies used where applicable. We host on AWS (VPC) and deploy several times weekly through CI/CD. DevOps are handled by our team. Our code base is thoroughly tested using selenium testing and unit tests. On the front end we mainly use jQuery, Bootstrap and Sass. We use Mysql data stores and leverage a service orientated architecture. Code is kept up to date and technical debt prioritised and removed. We use Git for source control. Basically, we use every means possible to keep our developers focused on improving the product and not caught up in spaghetti code.
If this sounds like you, please email your CV and cover letter to email@example.com.
