Tutorfair Online Study Groups Webinar

Image Last year Tutorfair was selected by Innovate UK as one of the top business-led ideas to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. This funding opportunity enabled us to launch Online Study Groups, a project to help recover lost learning due to school closures. After launching a pilot version of the project and receiving positive feedback from both tutors and students and we're very excited to have now launched Online Study Groups for tutors on the Tutorfair website.

We recently ran our first online webinar demonstrating this new feature to our tutors and over the upcoming months we are planning to host several more online webinars for any tutors interested in running their own Online Study Groups. With our next webinar scheduled for 25th March at 11am, we wanted to let you know a bit more about our Online Study Groups project.

Why should you consider group lessons?

Research has shown that small group tutoring is as effective as one-to-one learning. Groups will allow them to learn in small groups with high-quality private tutors delivering lessons tailored to them. Working with friends and other students will also enable interaction and social engagement during the lockdown whilst being more affordable and accessible throughout the country than one-to-one tuition.

As a tutor, this will benefit you as it will expand your network of parents and students with a possibility to expand your client-base through recommendations from parents in your group.

How does it work?

The way it works is each student in the group will pay 50% of the tutor’s online rate. This means that every student will pay the same amount, and the more students involved (groups of up to 5) the more you will earn for the session. Groups will only take place once 2 or more students have signed up and paid for the lesson, to ensure the tutor receives their normal rate.

We also extended our cancellation policy for group lessons and cancellations must be made more than 48 hours in advance if the tutor and client cannot reasonably find another mutually agreeable time to do the session. Cancellations by one client less than 48 hours in advance will not be refunded to that client who cancelled unless agreed by the tutor. The other clients in the group will be refunded in full if the lesson does not go ahead as scheduled as a result.
