About Radley College
Radley College is an independent boarding school for 690 boys, ages 13 - 18. The school is widely known for their art, music, and drama programs, in addition to their fantastic academic record. In 2015, 81.13% of candidates received a A* - A at GCSE.
"A Radley education is about independent thought and learning with enthusiasm. It is about cultural awareness and the benefits of team sport. It is about academic ambition. It is about learning to live with others; it is about preparation for the world beyond its gates. Above all, it is about the core values that will underpin success in all its forms throughout a Radleian’s life: as leaders, as citizens, as human beings."
How can I find out if the school is right for me?
It is recommended that you put your son’s name on the waiting list then meet with the senior management team. This is possible 3-4 years before your child would enter the school, (when your son is 8 or 9). You can meet with three tutors of your choice and tour the school, as they do not host Open Days. Radley accepts registration as early as 4 to 5 years in advance.
The majority of boys, roughly 140, join the school in September before their 14th birthday. Those over 14 will only be admitted in exceptional circumstances. A Common Entrance Exam in Maths and English will be given, with the pass mark being 60%. The exam is based on the National Curriculum and examples of past papers can be found on the ISEB website. Academic Scholarship exams are also available for those who qualify and need the assistance. Register as early as possible in order to be placed on the waiting list, registration has already opened for those students who wish to attend in 2020-2025.
There are a few spaces available in the Sixth Form each year, awarded to students who achieve at least 5 A*s at GCSE or the equivalent. These are awarded after examinations and interviews held at the school the November before entry. Contact the Radley Admissions Office and register at least 1 year before entry.
